The Food Technology at Saltwater P-9 College offers students the opportunity to undertake Food Studies from Years Prep to Year 6 in a fully equipped kitchen. Lessons offered incorporate practical and theoretical activities that engage students through creative and critical thinking cooking tasks.
We are proud that students in food technology are able to participate in practical sessions each week at every year level. This provides an important opportunity for the students to make links between their food knowledge and the realities of food preparation.
In Food Technology, the education of kitchen safety is a priority. When good practises are instilled in young children, they will understand the dangers of sharp knives and the importance of thoroughly cleaning surfaces.
Students and families will be able to follow recipes and to achieve safe, culinary abilities. The children will start with basic recipes such as popcorn to the art of making homemade pastas.
